Tigers in the Fire is a high-energy collection of dance-infused tunes of heartbreak, defiant independence, and life in Los Angeles. The release contains the radio-ready title song along with a number of remixes from producers from all over the world. Of the release's sound, a mixture of Italo disco beats, funky bass and Wight's inimitable vocal style - a cross between soulful crooning and female rap - Elizabeth says, "I see that LA is radically divided as to what kind of music is 'cool,' and there are so many different scenes, but I want my music to be very inclusive." Title track "Tigers in the Fire," produced by former Giorgio Moroder protégé Dave Darling (Tom Waits, Stray Cats) could be a statement of purpose for the Love Grenades - the melding of wah-wah guitar, smooth three-part harmonies and dancefloor grooves supporting the song's brazen message of empowerment: "I can do anything that I like/I can screw anyone that's nice/then walk away." The EP also includes remixes of tracks by DJs and producers from across the globe, including a version of "Young Lovers" remixed by Sam Sparro. Their next gig will be at the Sunset Junction festival in Los Angeles on August 23rd this Sunday. ... more at Rockscope.com www.myspace.com/LoveGrenades |
